Portland Horror Film Festival will host the west coast premiere of FANGORIA’s new horror comedy SATANIC PANIC this June 5-8th!
Helmed by Chelsea Stardust (All That We Destroy), written by Grady Hendrix (My Best Friend’s Exorcism), with co-story by Ted Geoghegan (We Are Still Here), SATANIC PANIC stars Rebecca Romijn, Arden Myrin, Jerry O’Connell, Hayley Griffith, Ruby Modine, AJ Bowen, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Jordan Ladd, Michael Polish, Skeeta Jenkins, Hannah Stocking, Clarke Wolfe, and Whitney Moore.
Hayley Griffith stars as a pizza delivery girl at the end of her financial rope who has to fight for her life – and her tips – when her last order of the night turns out to be high society Satanists in need of a virgin sacrifice. Stardust deftly navigates the subtleties of mixing horror, comedy, and drama, and gives space for Romijn, Griffith, and Modine to give outstanding performances as a spectrum of strong female characters.
Gorehounds rejoice! There’s no shortage of thrills and spills with a plethora of gory practical effects headed up by Tate Steinsiek (Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich).
Festival director Gwen Callahan notes, “It is extremely refreshing to have a horror film that delivers on its promises and doesn’t rely on a tired violence against women trope. It has the right amount of camp and straight up gore, and I can see this quickly becoming a horror classic!”
Since 1979, FANGORIA magazine has been the leading voice in horror entertainment. Since being resurrected by Cinestate (the production company behind Brawl in Cell Block 99, The Standoff at Sparrow Creek, and Dragged Across Concrete), the iconic horror magazine is BACK in a quarterly collectible print edition. And that’s not all – the company is now operating the FANGORIA Podcast Network, publishing books, and making movies, like 2018’s Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich, and the upcoming V.F.W.
Portland Horror Film Festival was launched in 2016 by Gwen and Brian Callahan, directors of the popular H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival®. With the goal of promoting and nurturing independent horror film, the Portland Horror Film Festival is the first dedicated all-genre horror film festival in Portland, OR. Film programming is comprised of international independent short and feature length horror films, many of which you can’t see anywhere else.
Besides being enjoyed by Portland’s distinguished horror fans, and being eligible for a number of Festival Awards, selected films are also reviewed by an industry insider for the Bloody Judge Award. This year’s judge is actor, producer, and makeup effects artist Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Cabin in the Woods). Past judges include Brian Yuzna, producer of Re-Animator and director of Return of the Living Dead III, Gregg Hale, producer of The Blair Witch Project, and Richard Stanley, director of Hardware and the upcoming The Color Out of Space.
Portland Horror Film Festival takes place June 5-8, 2019 at the historic Hollywood Theatre, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland, OR 97212. Tickets and festival passes will be available soon. For more information on the festival and upcoming events, please visit
